In this unit, they had to demonstrate knowledge of health and safety, food hygiene, and demonstrate skill in using the equipment, as well as a practical assessment in using recipes to create 3 different delicious dishes.

NIHE Chairman Visit

Peter Roberts (chairman of the [NIHE] Northern Ireland Housing Executive)  along with Laura O’Neill, the Disability Sector Contracts Manager, visited CCC, a visit organized by our Chair Peter Archdale.

The visit explored areas of common interest, allowed for information sharing and considered future development, planning, and collaborative working.

This visit has opened up many possibilities that are currently being explored.

We are grateful to Prof. Roberts and Laura taking time out of their busy schedules to accommodate this visit.

WHSCT Training Day

On the 2nd of May CCC hosted a Training Day for 40 professionals from the Adult Learning Disability teams in the Omagh and Fermanagh area (southern sector of WHSCT). The all-day event took place in Heron Hall. Once again the Learners’ Café stepped up to the mark and provided the catering with exceptional service in the Recreation Room.

The training day provided an opportunity to showcase what we do to new and existing WHSCT staff. The Trust team were given a presentation on CCC which was followed by a walk around.

New Felting Workshop

We started felting earlier in the year and a twice-weekly felting workshop was put in place in the new extension after Open Day. Gusta Peters is the workshop facilitator: "We started with soap felting and felted some flowers too. We have also been making Christmas baubles, bags, hats and table mats"

Keep an eye out for these fabulous felted products to come!

Voices NI Group Meeting at Mourne Grange Community

The second meeting was held in Mourne Grange on the 6th of August 2019. Martin, David McC, Anna, Brendan, Christopher, Patrick, and Steven were Clanabogan’s representatives. After a warm welcome and a eurthmy circle, each Community gave updates on what was happening in their area.

St Johns Day Celebrations 2019

The day started out damp and had been preceded by a few days of rain but fortunately, the rain held off as we gathered outside Riverstown House for the St John’s bonfire.

This had every promise of being a very special day, a day of celebration for all in and of the Community.

This year, St John’s was a huge celebration. It started at the bonfire with most of the Community present, the villagers, coworkers, employees, friends, volunteers, neighbors, board members, and families. A wonderful mix of people who contribute to and make up this Clanabogan Community of ours.
